That should be me right now in my 14ft 1974 Appleby, but unfortunately my 1958 Johnson 5hp 2cyl motor is locked up big time, and it would cost over $1,000 to fix, so unless someone wants to buy it from me for parts or even better, restoration, let me know. Plus, mine doesnt have a hood

Your motor is not an antique it is a Classic. I believe the cut off line according to the A.O.M.C.I is 1950 before 1950 it would be considered a antique. To be a classic it has to be between 1950 and no less then 30 years old. So as of right now the 1979 models are considered Classic’s

hmm i got free a motor like this (red johnson 7½hp, about the same age) a couple days ago, maybe i should test if it runs, it isn’t in too bad condition, all the original texts are still there. it sounds and looks great too, maybe i could have a good motor of that. not bad for (well kinda) free.

I just bought a ’57 Crestliner aluminum v-hull that had a ’54 Johson Sea Horse on it. Rebuilt the carb and it runs great. Its been taken good care and looks like new. Looks like this one in the video but green.

you can gently pry those teeth towards each other. The other thing is make sure none of the linkage is binding and everything is free. Those teeth skipping is common, especially when the tiller is raised and the handle is turned they’ll tend to skip.
