Johnson Outboard Motors
![]() |
Johnson happens to be the first to introduce the heavy outboard engine in 1926. They were speed kings in 1925 to 1926 and produced some finest outboard motors for its customers.
Johnson declared itself bankrupt in 1932, which was the result of stock market crash of October, 1929. In 1935, it was named Outboard Marine and Manufacturing Corporation (OMC) as a major portion of its shares were bought buy Ralph Evinrude and Steve Briggs.
In 2001 the assets of Outboard Marine and Manufacturing Corporation were sold to Bombardier of Canada. Bombardier promised to bring back Johnson to its old glory and Johnson outboard motors are now being sold under the supervision of Bombardier.
Johnson outboard motors have a 3-stage baffle chamber for less noise, aluminum connecting rods, easier restart facilities, longer engine life and instant throttle response. Johnson seems to be living a second life and we are sure that you will love their products.
