How to determine accurate price to offer on used Yamaha outboard motor -?

Question by BP: How to decide accurate price to provide on used Yamaha outboard motor -?
I am looking at a employed 1994 yamaha 8 hp tiller lengthy shaft outboard that appears to be in quite very good condition and not used hard, low hours - It starts and runs well - how can I figure out what is a fair money price to pay the seller for this engine? Need some assist on this 1. I already looked at the NADA marine price list for boats & motors, and it said the motor was retail value 1300-1400 dollars which I thought was too high for a 16 yr old 8hp motor. Was trying to get a more realistic market cost that is fair for this motor - I also googled "'94 yamaha 8hp for sale" in hopes of seeing some asking prices but struck out on that search... If anyone that knows what it would be worth (fair price) please let me know. Thanks alot.

Well my grandpa works at a marina and he told me that a very good price to provide for that would be around the 800 mark. Its not much but its still something! Hope I helped

check kijiji, also brand new is usually $ 300 per horse so $ 1300 isn’t bad
