Coast Guard’s Defender

The US Coast Guard Defender Class boat, also referred to as an RB-S (response boat-modest), was introduced in July 2003 and serves a assortment of missions, like search and rescue and port security. The boats are 25 feet and draw about three feet. Powered by twin 225 horsepower Honda outboard motors, they are capable of speeds of far more than 46 knots and have a range of 105 to 150 nautical miles, depending on tankage. The boat can launch with a two-person crew, but has a carrying capacity of 10. And here's a feature you do not see on other boats: it can mount an M60 or M240 machine gun on the bow! www.uscg.mil
